SatLane

Terms of Service

Last updated: May 17, 2026

1. What SatLane is

SatLane is a software service that helps vendors accept Bitcoin payments on their own websites. SatLane is non custodial. Funds move directly from the buyer to the wallet the vendor controls, via the Bitcoin network. SatLane never holds, routes, or has access to vendor or buyer funds at any point.

We do not provide a wallet. We do not exchange Bitcoin for fiat. We do not store private keys. The vendor brings an extended public key (xpub) from a wallet they already own; SatLane derives fresh addresses from that xpub to display on invoices.

2. Who can use SatLane

You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into a contract in your jurisdiction. By signing up, you confirm that your use of SatLane will not violate any laws that apply to you or your customers, including but not limited to laws governing money transmission, consumer protection, sanctions, and tax.

SatLane does not perform KYC on vendors or buyers. Responsibility for any required identity verification, recordkeeping, or regulatory reporting rests with the vendor.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to use SatLane to facilitate transactions for goods or services that are illegal in the vendor or buyer jurisdiction, including (without limitation) child sexual abuse material, terrorism financing, sanctioned parties, malware, stolen credentials, weapons sold to prohibited recipients, or controlled substances sold without a license.

We may suspend an account for suspected violations pending investigation. We may terminate an account if a violation is confirmed. We may refuse service at our discretion.

4. Fees

SatLane charges 1% of the invoice amount on every paid invoice, in Bitcoin. Fees are accrued per invoice and billed to the vendor on the first of the following calendar month. Fee invoices are payable within seven days via Bitcoin to an address SatLane provides.

If a fee invoice is unpaid past the due date, SatLane may suspend new invoice creation across the vendor account. Existing pending invoices continue to resolve and pay the vendor wallet directly, since SatLane is non custodial. Suspension is lifted on receipt of the outstanding fee.

Fee rates may change. We will give existing vendors at least 30 days notice of any rate increase, by email and via the dashboard.

5. Vendor responsibilities

  • Keep the xpub secure. Anyone who controls the matching private keys controls funds paid to addresses derived from it. SatLane never sees the private keys and cannot help recover funds from a compromised wallet.
  • Keep API keys secret. Treat them like passwords. Rotate them if you suspect compromise.
  • Verify webhook signatures before trusting any payment event in your own systems. We provide an open source helper library and document the signing scheme.
  • Comply with applicable consumer protection laws including refund and chargeback handling. Bitcoin transactions cannot be reversed by SatLane; vendors handle refunds by sending Bitcoin back to the buyer themselves.
  • Report incidents promptly. If you observe unexpected behavior that may affect payment integrity, email support@satlane.com.

6. Availability

SatLane runs on commercial cloud infrastructure with no formal uptime guarantee. We publish a public status page at /status that probes the platform live on each page load. Planned maintenance windows, when needed, will be announced at least 48 hours in advance via email and the status page.

7. No financial advice; no money transmission

SatLane is a software company. We do not provide investment, tax, or legal advice. We do not transmit money. We do not convert Bitcoin to fiat or fiat to Bitcoin. We do not take custody of customer funds for any purpose, including escrow. Vendors who require any of those services should engage a licensed provider separately.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, SatLane is provided on an as is basis. We disclaim implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. Our total liability arising out of or relating to the service is capped at the greater of (a) the fees paid by the vendor to SatLane in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) USD 100.

We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages, including lost profits, lost revenue, or loss of data, even if advised of the possibility.

9. Indemnification

Vendors agree to indemnify and hold SatLane harmless from third party claims arising from the vendor business, including disputes with buyers, failure to comply with applicable law, and any conduct that violates these terms.

10. Termination

Either party may terminate the agreement at any time. Vendors may close their account in the dashboard. SatLane may terminate with notice for any reason or without notice for material breach (including but not limited to suspected acceptable use violations, unpaid fees past 30 days, or actions that put the platform or other vendors at risk).

Termination does not waive accrued fee obligations. The vendor remains responsible for any unpaid fee invoices.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced by email and dashboard banner at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use of SatLane after the effective date constitutes acceptance.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which SatLane is operated. Disputes will be resolved in the competent courts of that jurisdiction, except where local consumer protection law mandates otherwise.
